India, a country of vibrant bazaars, golden sandy beaches, soaring Himalayas and a diverse culture, is ever-changing and rapidly developing. Recently, the Indian Government have changed the visa system, introducing a new e-Tourist Visa which allows UK citizens to apply and pay for visas online. This visa is designed for tourists wanting to stay in the country for up to 30 days, so it’s perfect if you’re planning a holiday to India. It can be used for all those flying to the major Indian airports (including Bangalore, Chennai (Madras), Cochin, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Calcutta, Mumbai and Trivandrum).

Not only is this system less time consuming, but also cheaper. The fee for UK citizens used to be £80, and more if you needed to use a visa service to help you, now it is just $60 per person, which works out around £40! For those of you who have struggled to obtain Indian visas in the past will know that we’ve all been eagerly awaiting a new and improved system. The old process being lengthy, complicated and frustrating; queuing in an office in London or sending your passport off and not seeing it for weeks. Now, with a few clicks and a quick and an easy online payment you can be half way to the warm and beautiful Indian sub-continent in the time that it would’ve taken you to suss out the complicated old system! You can even apply as little as 4 days in advance, which is great for those last minute jaunts.
